Since it's Save-One-Third Last Longer LoveMaking month at Tantra At Tahoe, I want to respond to frequent complaints from women that they can't enjoy long sex or sometimes any sex because it's painful. They can only enjoy intercourse for a short amount of time, then they're done. This is not only disappointing for her, but for her partner, too.
Since the average woman needs 40 minutes of stimulation to orgasm, this condition can actually prevent her from orgasming.
Of course, we know in Tantra there are many, many ways to orgasm. It isn't just limited to our name for intercourse, sacred sexual union. But there is something quite fulfilling for the average woman about orgasming with her man's vajra (penis) inside of her.
As a woman, I'm going to address this article to women, mainly to avoid the improper or awkward use of the pronouns, she/he. But I know that guys are going to want to read this article, because it has important ramifications for their pleasure as well.
Causes Of Painful Intercourse - - - - - - - - - - - -
1. A common cause is infrequent intercourse. The muscles and tissues of the vagina can become tense and taut when not relaxed and used frequently enough.
2. Aging is associated with hormonal changes that cause the mucous membranes of the entire body to be less juicy. The walls of the vagina actually become a bit thinner. Although this varies from woman to woman, it can be a problem.
3. Tightening of the sphincter at the entrance to the vagina, where the muscles clamp down to prevent entry is called vaginismus. This is a condition that has psychological roots, usually in abuse or some kind of trauma.
4. Another common source of painful intercourse is some type of infection. This could be a yeast condition, a bladder infection (UTI), or some other type of vaginal infection.
Remember, if it's painful, then there's a problem. Please pay attention to your discomfort.
Prevention And Treatment - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
1. To prevent the first problem, it is important to have intercourse or some kind of penetration frequently enough. I'm not going to prescribe a specific frequency, because it varies with the woman, but once every week or two is probably close to a minimum to prevent this. In lieu of intercourse for those women without immediate access to a desirable man, a dildo or cucumber works just fine. Fingers are great, too. One ways that really helps me is to have Somraj penetrate my Yoni (vagina). with his fingers before sexual union. Then my tissues get warmed up and relaxed. Intercourse then becomes more pleasurable and as I relax even more.
2. Although I wish we could all prevent aging, there are a few things you can do to prevent a dry Yoni. As mentioned above, practice works to keep Yoni supple, soft, and moist. Frequent sex helps maintain a healthy Yoni and a pleasurable outlook on life. The current trend toward bio-identical hormones can be a miracle for many women with the complaint of dryness. There are many new sensual lubricants available that can be helpful as well. Again, because of the variation of women, you just kind of have to try them all until you find a lube that you like. There are even products on the market for women who can't have any kind of estrogen. Talk with your doctor.
3. Vaginismus often must be treated by a professional sex therapist to work through the psychological issues that underlie the condition. This can be a very serious problem with a long recovery time, but it's possible and worth it. When a woman is ready psychologically, yoni learns to welcome penetration slowly, usually without a vajra (penis), using progressively larger devices such as dildos, cucumbers, etc.
4. Infections are another story. Needless to say, infection must be cleared before penetration is welcomed. For prevention of a bladder infection, we highly recommend d-Mannose, an amazing natural sugar-based product that can be used for treatment. One teaspoon before sexual union and one afterwards will almost always prevent a problem. Jeffre thinks it a godsend. We recommend that all women who are sexually active and have ever had a bladder infection consider using d-Mannose regularly. Please no more antibiotics, if you can avoid them. Yeast Infections Are Uncomfortable But Really A Misnomer - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
For yeast infections, there are over the counter remedies that work well for most yeast conditions. Occasionally you may have to see your M.D. if the over the counter medication doesn't work. It's my experience that the one-day treatments don't work as well as the three-day treatments. Again, you may have to try several.
Yeast infection is kind of a misnomer. There is always yeast in the Yoni, but when the pH becomes unbalanced, the yeast overgrows. If you love to engage in kinky sex, experiment a lot, get frequent yeast infections, or love anal play, I recommend a light vinegar douche after sexual play. This can often prevent a yeast overgrowth. You may have noticed that you are more prone to yeast infections right around your period. That's normal. Douching can also help at this time.
For other infections, you will have to see your M.D. And because most of these conditions are sexually transmitted, you will have to talk with your partner(s) and abstain from sex until your symptoms are gone and your treatment is complete.
Women, It's Time To Take Care Of You - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We cannot emphasize enough the importance of you being really turned on before any kind of Yoni penetration. If you, the woman, rarely experience being really aroused, I strongly recommend self-pleasuring, using your mind and your body to learn what you want and need. Don't hold back with your lover(s), tell them what you want and need. Resist the temptation to let him penetrate you before you are truly ready.
This is not the time to placate him, or mollify him. It's the time to take care of you.
